Growth in successful signup numbers as a result of improved clickthrough rate, improved churn among users who signed up on new system
Zedge wanted to begin encouraging its users to create accounts to broaden the range of possible services provided.
Through workflow analysis and user research, we reduced the signup process to two page that allowed existing Google an Facebook accounts to be paired with Zedge, reducing user form input to a single text form for the username, which could also be automatically generated.
Because this was an update bringing the service into line with other platforms rather than breaking new ground, the design process began with a detailed competitor analysis. In addition to this, available signup APIs had to be assessed for compatibility and clickthrough process.
User testing in the early stage was mostly centered on assessing the importance of different forms of identifier (username, user number, ZID etc.) and the dropoff rates of different page layouts.
